The Kidney Shower

Has anyone ever been to a baby shower? Tara and Sarah have to confess that they haven't however they have attended their very own kidney shower, hosted by the very lovely Lou and Bushy.

What is a kidney shower you may ask. Well it could best be described as an assembly of your closest friends a few days before an operation where you eat chilli con carne (on account of the beans - geddit?) and pie (guess the contents) and play silly games and ultimately realise just how much support you have around you before you go off and swap your organs about.

Sarah will openly confess that pre-shower she was skeptical about attending a party about kidneys - she thought she might prefer to hide at home and watch telly and not engage with the outside world. However, she had a bloody marvellous time playing 'guess the organ' and 'the body quiz'. She did break out in a slight cold sweat when asked to guess how many beans in the jar as she did not feel adequately prepared and was worried she may get something wrong, much to Tara's amusement.

Tara managed to forget all about the transplant despite the numerous visual representations of kidneys around the place and actually just had a good old laugh with her mates. Of particular note during a game of 'pin the kidney on the patient' Melvyn was sent off down the corridor in his blindfold to pin the kidney on the next door neighbour it seemed.

Lou rounded the evening off with her own rendition of Adele's 'Hello' it's really worth a watch.
